New card catalog debuts at CCJH

Cactus Canyon Junior High’s library has a new program that categorizes the each of its over 16,000 books. It’ll make looking for books easier for students who will spend less time walking around the aisles searching.
“It’s called Destiny Card Catalog,” said Jennifer Cameron the school librarian. “It categorizes the books by keyword, author, and title.”
When a student is looking for a specific book or genre, they just type it into the search box. The catalog pulls up a variety of book, titles, and authors. Similar to programs used at high schools and universities, it also shows summaries of each book so the reader knows what the book is about before he or she checks it out.
When doing research, students will see all of the available resources in one place and the catalog will pull it up the information instantly.
“It’s totally awesome!” said eighth-grade student Gabe Groll. “It makes looking for my books easier.”
