The Scholastic book fair came to Cactus Canyon Junior High last month with all new titles, authors and genres of all sorts. Many students came to buy and there was a new program to buy new Scholastic books online.
The library didn’t get as much money as hoped, but enough to buy more books for students. Mrs. Cameron, the librarian, has already bought more books for the library.
“This time the money to purchase books (was) divided between purchasing books for the library, which all students may check, out and buying the classroom sets of the books Eleventh Plague and Kaleidoscope Eyes,” she said. “These classroom sets are to be used shortly by Mrs. Smith and Ms. Mangum and their language arts classes. Of course, these books will also then be available in the library.”
Students are happy to receive the new books.
“I’m excited that we get the good books like the new House of Night book and the new Inheritance series book,” said eighth grader Morgan Coker.
Book fairs and other fundraisers really help CCJH raise library money for students’ benefit. The new books arrive soon for students to read.
