Student Council members are holding a Drive in Movie Night on Wednesday, March 28 starting at 6 p.m. at Cactus Canyon Junior High. They will be showing Cars 2 in the 300 mall area. The event is free.
StuCo is always looking for new events to put on, which is why they decided to do this. Since there is only three dances, members thought it would be a great idea to have a movie night with a drive-in twist.
The class spent about three weeks making cardboard look like cars.
“The hard part is making all the boxes into cars,” said Davis. “It’s pretty easy to set up a concession stand and put a movie on. It doesn’t sound like it’s that hard, but it takes a lot of work to paint those boxes.”
Students are encouraged to make and bring their own car, but the ones StuCo made will be available as free rental. The movie will be free, as well, but soda, chips, and candy will be for sale.
Student Council members hope students will respond positively to the event and it will lead to more events.
“Other than dances, we haven’t had any other events for students this year, and that’s part of our job as a council,” Davis said.
