Four teachers will be hosting Cactus Canyon Junior High’s first talent show for seventh and eighth graders who want to juggle up an act to perform to their family and friends. The show will be Feb. 26 at Apache Junction High School.
Aimee Vining, Gail McFarland, Paige Reesor, and Lisa Landis just want to give students a chance to shine so there will be no competition. Vining said, “Everyone is a winner.”
“My biggest goal is for the students of CCJH is to have an opportunity to perform,” said Vining, the school’s music director.
Ms. Vining is encouraging her band and orchestra students to participate and attend the talent show. The judges are not looking for anything specific, but they are hoping to be surprised by the acts presented to them and the audience.
“I really hope they take this opportunity to share their talents with the school,” said Vining. “This is a chance to step out of their shell, do something courageous, and demonstrate why Cougars are so awesome.”
Auditions were held in the music room on Jan. 21. Most of the students who auditioned will have the opportunity to perform in the talent show. This is an opportunity for students to show off their talents to their family and friends, despite the fact that they may not have the opportunity or courage to do so outside of the production.
“I want them to share their talents with their friends. Especially if they are too shy to do it normally, or don’t have other opportunities,” said Vining.
Participants will have a dress rehearsal on Feb. 19 before the show, which will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m Wednesday, Feb. 26, at the AJHS Performing Arts Center.
